"Not a moment in life is wasted on a farm"
Amongst the other aspects of Evans & Moose, Hannah and Ric also run a working smallholding. As an eighth generation sheep farmer with family dairy links, agriculture is truly in Hannah's blood (also as a member of The Farmer's Club in London) with Ric diving headfirst into it all taking to it instantly! In years gone by the farm boasted one of the main stop offs for Livestock Transporters travelling up and down the country. Due to ill-health, the main flock was sold in 2012 but, having taken over the remaining smaller flock, it's Hannah and Ric's mission to build it back up, bigger and better than before!
The fibre flock is growing, with the addition of some Herdwick sheep and some great bloodlines producing some fantastic fleeces. You'll see products created from this wool added to the Evans & Moose online shop after the next shearing season, the online store is also set to feature more produce from the farm as it grows!
We will also be adding some (additional) stunning rare-breed animals to our menagerie, including some longwool sheep breeds and working Heavy Horses (Suffolk Punch), with the chance to join an experience day where you can learn how to work with these beautiful animals whilst supporting critically endangered and vulnerable breeds. As a couple, Hannah and Ric enjoy traditional methods of agriculture, meaning the farm becomes a chance for complete escapism from everyday life, something eventually they hope to open up to others who want to take a step away from the stresses of modern society. We hope that as we grow you'll be able to stay in a ranch-hand style bunk house or the sustainable (and luxurious!) cabin to really soak up the atmosphere where, if you wish, you can be an integral part of the farm for your stay!
There are lots of plans in the future for the Farm at Evans & Moose, Hannah and Ric will be introducing Farmer Fridays, Veteran Programmes and additional experience opportunities just for starters, so keep an eye out!
We're always up for a bit of networking and are extremely passionate about the life lessons farming can teach all ages so, if you fancy a chat, feel free to get in touch!
